WBM Features: Sandra Mushi

Continuing our celebration of poetry for the month of April, our next feature piece comes from Sandra Mushi of Tanzania. In Her New Man, Sandra explores femininity and independence. Enjoy.

Her New Man

With her new man
She shaves her legs
She takes a bubble bath
She dims the lights
She lights candles
She burns oils
She wears that silk robe
She puts her phone on mute
She dubs on oriental perfume
She listens to some slow jams
She sips on red wine
She touches the knob
She fingers the button
She presses
Long
Deep
Fast
Always there, always willing
She cums long and sure
She gets satisfaction

With her new man
She don’t need
No protection
No direction
No affection
No devotion
No compassion
No progression
No succession
No expectation
No connection
She touches the knob
She fingers the button
She presses
Long
Deep
Fast
Always there, always willing
With just the batteries
Til they run dry
