Using Time Wisely
A second; 60 of those make a minute. Approximately 60 of those make an hour. 24 of those complete a day. 30 to 31 of those, with the exeption of February, depending on the calendar complete a month and 365 to 366 of those make a year.
Now whether it's a second, minute, hour, day, month, or year, Ms. Divina McCray (CEO of Posh N Naughty) of Cleveland, Ohio uses her time wisely. When not investing her energy into her overall improvement and well-being, Divina is in pursuit of a college degree and taking her promotional company, Posh N Naughty to the next level.
Here with some time to share with WBM, Divina or Cleveland Diva as I know her, gives her insight on business and the world as she knows it.
[As Told To Why Blue Matters]
Who is Cleveland Diva?
Cleveland Diva is a professional business woman whom ambitions are driven by hard work. The standards I have in place for myself is to “get the job done”.
What are some of your aspirations?
I have many goals in life; I am currently working on my Bachelor’s Degree, but my main aspiration is to make Posh N Naughty Promotions a successful promotions company not just in Cleveland but also throughout the country.
I understand you are involved with promotional modeling, how long have you been doing that?
I have been involved with promotional modeling for about three years now, two and a half years of that was actually spent being the model. After getting to know the promotions industry I decided six months ago that I would establish my own promotions company in Posh N Naughty.
Tell me about your online platform?
I believe that the internet is an extremely effective promotions tool. As the CEO of Posh N Naughty I make sure that all information, updates, events, and pictures are available on Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, and www.poshnnaughty.blogspot.com.
What can viewers expect?
Viewers can expect to see pictures, fliers and other current event information. As well as listen to MP3 promotions from upcoming artists.
How have you been able to balance what you do some of the other things you have going on in life?
I don’t have anything specific that I do to balance work, school, and family. I think that my work ethic has actually been obtained by having a busy life. Life has taught me that to be successful you have to manage your time, work hard, multitask, and be prepared for anything.
What are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of being a strong woman whom is handling school, work, and making sure my family is taken care of.
Any projections for the future?
You never know what the future may hold for you so I take things day by day.
What type of impact would you like to leave?
The impact I would like to leave is having individuals think of Posh N Naughty Promotions first for any promotional event. That means we made a name for ourselves!
What advice would you like give others on the path to success?
On the path to success make sure the individuals that surround you bring only positive energy. That positive energy will help you move along that path more smoothly.

Striving For Excellence
Calculated yet unpredictable; this is the formula for success that has lead to many of the accomplishments of brilliant singer/songwriter Torica. She's been behind the scenes for a while, however, now waiting for the right time to come into the spot light.
Truth be told, Torica has worked with some of the heavyweights in the industry and has gained the respect of her peers. Yet, she has much more to offer then just her creative talent. She's business savvy and still has time to be a mother. She balances her life accordingly and so far has been very successful.
Take a minute to see what life is like in her shoes. Here’s some insight into one of the industry’s best from the best herself.
I've been in the music business since 2002.
My greatest accomplishment so far is being a mother to my 5 year old son.
My ultimate goal in life is to be successful as a business owner, renowned as a songwriter, remarkable as a parent, dynamic as a singer/performer, and the best human I can be!
The best part about the music business is knowing and seeing something you created take on a life of its own and how my work inspires others. I also love that I get to work with people I admire and since I love music, it doesn't feel like work.
There is no exact method when I approach a song...the track will inspire an emotion and ill come up with a melody and write lyrics based on what melody sounds like. Sometimes ill write based on inspiration from a personal experience. I may create music based on situations I know of my friends or family are going through. I could watch a movie, tv show, commercial, or see a billboard that inspires me.
My life has drastically changed in several ways since starting in the business, its gone from somewhat routine to spur-of-the-moment exciting. I never know when I have to fly out to go work with someone or what's going to happen after I turn in a song. My life has become a lot more busy with travel, sessions, performances, show tapings, event hosting, and being recognized by industry professionals who are well known and have had far greater success in this business than me.
I currently have a publishing deal with Warner Chappell and Bryan-Michael Cox. People may know me from the "Sick of Being Lonely" single for Field Mob. Since then I've worked with Polow da Don, Jazzy Pha, Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg, Young Jeezy, The Clutch, Gucci Mane, Fat Boi Beats, The Stereotypes, Tony Draper, Monica, Rich Girl, T-Boz, JD, and countless others.
If i wasnt in the business i'd probably be a fashion stylist, brand manager, buyer for a major retail chain, or entertainment journalist.
Currently I'm listening to Ryan Leslie, Chrisette Michele, Jasmine Sullivan, Trey Songz, Rick Ross, Brandy, Cheri Dennis, and Young Jeezy.
My favorite jobs in the industry that i've done music and Event Design.
I just wish that the media didn't dissect every inch of each celebrity or person in the spotlight. Its as if noone can be imperfect...human. There should be a boundary to prevent the overinvasion of privacy. I haven't reached a point where its affected me personally, but I can identify with celebs in the spotlight in terms of the pressure to appear as perfect as possible since everything you do is up for harsh crticism.
Anyone pursuing a dream should be mentally prepared to take rejection and be misunderstood without giving up what you believe in. You have to be strong and be able to withstand scrutiny, pressure, and negativity. You may lose people you thought were your friends, but its worth the sacrifice if you can one day wake up doing what you LOVE everyday. That's the advice I wish someone had given me in the beginning of my pursuit.
I want to be remembered as a hardworker and an inspiration to others, young and old and an all-around good person.
I want the world to know that I am goofy and can impersonate several well-known celebs. I want to one day be a voiceover actress.

Sky Is The Limit
Generally speaking, most may perceive this standard as silly or stupid initally, but as we come into our own and experience enough, "the standard" starts to make some kind sense. However, the standard isn't something that's foreign to our next feature (Singer/Songwriter/Program Host) Dana Sky.
Consistently setting new standards for not only herself, but also for her career, Dana strives to reach new heights with the desire to progress. Dana Sky is the limit and there isn't anything she sees herself settling for.
[As Told To Why Blue Matters]
So tell us a little bit about yourself:
Hello world, my name is Dana Sky Faison. Im in my early 20's(a woman never tells her age). I am in the entertainment business but I have so many other interest that consume my off time! I love to read, write, do almost anything outdoors, people watch, and Randomly break out in song and dance in a crowd of people on Wall street. Cooking and Baking are two things I love to do but don't do it enough! My future husband better have a sweet tooth ; )! I love to meditate, Dance, Cheer, Make fun music, Perform, and Walk my dog. Im such a normal "dorky" person. I enjoy old Star Trek reruns, watching the Boon Docks, Making Silly Music videos with my best friend and every now and then a good "Stoli around the world" and dinner with my girls! Oh and did I mention I'm a huge WWE fan!
What do you like most about music and entertainment?
I like being able to express myself with out having to actually tell my life story. I could be talking about someone else's personal life but still releasing the stress that I have day to day! I love reaching people with out physically touching them or speaking straight to them! I love to teach others and to Learn as much as possible.
How long have you been involved?
I've been in the industry since I was 9 years old. I modeled for the Lyons Group NYC and I started Professional Singing with my father. We did Shows for this organization called HAI(Hospital Audiences Inc.). We traveled through out NY state singing at different Hospitals, Shelters, centers and homes. Its something I cherish and still do today! It brings me so much joy knowing that my voice can bring a little bit of hope and Happiness into someone's life!
What inspires you?
Everyday life inspires me, My niece and nephews acting a fool, My best-friend breaking up with her boy friend, My Dog getting sprayed by a skunk! I could go on and on but I wouldn't want to bore you!
How have you been able to balance what you do?
Having my parents show me the way as a young lady has prepared me for the craziness that I live today! My father was always balancing a regular nine to five then performing at night from Ten P.M. to two A.M. From the first time I performed with him (pic on twitpic) I knew this was the life I was meant to live and I knew no matter what obstacles came my way I would fulfill that destiny.
Where do you see yourself 5 yrs from now?
Oh Gosh, I See my self at the premiere of a movie that I am staring in; which is two days before the release of my sophomore album! :)I would hope to be in a relationship maybe even talking marriage, but hey thats just the small town girl talking!
Any future projects?
Im writing and recording an ep, as of right now, I'm on the hunt for new Management so if anyone out there is interested HOLLA ;) I'm singing 3-5 days out of the week so hit me up on twitter (Dana_Sky) and I'll let you know where I'll be performing. I'm hosting and Associate Producing a new show on Thisis50.com called the Memo, So look out for that! I also want to design my own swimsuit line but you'll have to wait a little bit for that one!
Any advice for those who want to pursue their music and entertainment aspirations?

The Real Me
Who is Dahlia you might ask? A pioneer in her own right. With what some people say one of the most controversial books of the year coming out called "I Testify," Dahlia is here to set the record straight.
Having to deal with people all her life doubting her saying she would never be anybody or amount to anything and thought she was a joke she was out to prove herself. Through the ups and downs if being the industry, Dahlia learned and kept her head up high.
Take a second and get to know this remarkable woman.
[As told to Why Blue Matters]
So what does the world need to know about Dahlia?
Dahlia: That I am a very driven woman who wants nothing more than to be happy. I have a vision and I want to share it with the world. I want to be an example to young women around the world who feel like they can’t…when they really can. In want the world to know that there is at least one person that wants to make an impact in someone’s life.
So let us tell it along side with you…
So tell us a little bit about yourself:
Tell us how an ordinary day in your life is? Any rituals routines?
What's the thought process behind your works?
Dahlia: …I just wake up and say “Dahlia” let’s go and let’s get it.
What inspires and motivates you?
How long have you been involved in the business?
How was life changed for you since being in the business?
Does any negativity from the media ever affect you in anyway?

Pushing Forward
Poised. Determined. Focused. Confident. These are all characteristics of someone who not only has an idea what he or she wants but in fact knows what he or she wants to acquire from life. It requires certain type of disposition, mindset and most importantly and level of desire high enough to pull the stars out the sky.
However, at the same time requires a push with a force so great nothing will come in between what's sought after most.
His goal: to make a significant impact with his words and his actions. His method of choice: music. That's his push, and also what keep him pushing forward. Here with a little insight of what of it means to follow your heart, pursue ones dreams, and being an artist Carmine Davis shares his thoughts.
[As told to Why Blue Matters]
I'm Carmine Davis and I'm an all around entertainer. I sing, dance, act, write, produce, and I'm involved in a few philanthropy projects.
As long as I can remember, I've always dreamed of becoming an entertainment icon! This chapter of my life is me overcoming adversities, naysayers, and learning absolutely everything I can to become what I've always dreamed.
Interest(s)?
Aside from entertaining, I'm into reading! I can be extremely silly! I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family. I listen to music all damn day! Hahaha. I'm attached to my Blackberry. I just love getting to know myself, entertaining and helping others!
What can you most attribute your musical ability to?
Probably the fact that I was raised around a musical/performing family! All of us are natural entertainers and comedians. That's how I mainly remember my family getting through things: music, laughter, and prayer.
I love music so much. When I listen to music, I learn. From my favorite artists' vocal techniques to their production styles! I just sit back and learn.
What's your genre of music?
Pop/Dance/R&B/Hip-Hp/Soul/
Who are you influenced by?:
Artists like Beyonce, The King Michael Jackson, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, TuPac, Lady Gaga, Lenny Kravitz, Prince, Luther Vandross, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Biggie, Alicia Keys... I could go on all day!
What do you like most about being a singer/songwriter?
Just the way you can relate to people. You know how you can sit back and cry, laugh, dance, and think because of a song? That's what makes music so powerful. How it can make you FEEL. That's why I love this so much.
What's the thought process behind your works?
It varies. Songs like "Autograph" are songs out of creativity. See, what people don't know is there is a secret meaning of the word "Autograph" that I don't think people caught on to. Some have and others haven't caught on. It's a little dirty, so I won't say in this particular interview, but songs like that come from creativity.
There are other songs I write that come from personal experiences: pain, joy, sorrow, love, & hate. Sometimes I write about what my friends are going through. It really just depends.
What inspires and motivates you?
I think the fact that, no matter how much I try, I couldn't go a day without music. I can't think of my future and not see me touching millions of people. I can't see me NOT becoming an icon. I'll work as hard as it takes to make that a reality. It means so much to me.
And another thing is the haters. The haters are your biggest motivation. Hello, haters! hahaha.
How long have you been involved in music?
Since I was 6. So about 12 years now.
What type of impact would you like to leave with your music?
I just want to be an African American male act that brings something so brand new to the table. I don't want to stick to the status quo in this industry...I want to re-write it. Do something completely different. Whether it's my image or my sound, I want to constantly re-invent myself and broaden my horizons!
What would you do if you weren't involved in music?
I can't even imagine! I've always wanted to do THIS. Every since I was eight I knew that this is what I wanted to be.
Any future projects?
Yes! So many! Right now we're working on the official first single with a few amazing producers. And I'm also getting ready to do a lot of live shows. So much stuff is going to be happening! You've just gotta follow me to see how things go.
Any advice for those looking to pursue their musical endeavors?
No matter what anyone says...keep doing what YOU love to do. You'd be surprised how great things will turn out if you get out of your comfort zone, stand up and be noticed! Do what you always dreamed of and let NO ONE tell you "you can't"!

Breaking the cycle of stereotypical musical trends, a new breed of MC performing live with a live band and not just a dj standing behind him is what allows our next feature to stand out amongst a crowd.
Doey Rock is defining hip hop all the glory as well as consequences of being a hustler by keeping it real and also wanting to be remembered as being a man of his word. Take a glimpse of the life of Doey Rock who's paving the way for other rappers in the game and putting the West coast back on the map.
[As told to Why Blue Matters]
How long have you been in the game?
Officially 2005, thats when i dropped my first studio album "soul on fire"
What's your greatest accomplishment so far in life?
In Life, being a father and not just a sperm donor. Not thats its not what I'm supposed to do but more so because I wasnt taught that. My Dad was just that... a sperm donerI've reversed many of the bad habit I was taught.
Tell us a little bit about yourself: Interest(s)? What's your ultimate goal in life?
I love to write, I'm a poet first before I ever wrote a song I wrote poems. I would sit in my window on Bellini in Elder Creek and write poems about how I didnt want to feel any of the pain I seen. Bums, Pimps, Hoes, Gangs, Drugs Etc my ultimate goal in life became evident early.... To never grow old in the ghetto.
What do you like most about being in the business?
The freedom of expression. The free stuff is nice too haha.
What's the thought process behind your work ? - from personal experience ? - mere creativity?
Both. I try to be creative as possible at the same time make sure it really is my life I'm talking about. On my new album I say " All the denzeln' and will smithn' kill it/ unless the movie check come w/ it get it ?"Thats the long winded way to say we need to stop frontin/actin. Jus be you and people will love u more.
What inspires and motivates you?
First and foremost, my little me's they mean everything to me. Hip hop inspires because I see a void of reality. I try and tell both sides of the story. The glory and the consequences the hustle has to offer. I want kids from the gutter to dream again.
How was life changed for you since being you started as a rapper?
It hasnt. I havent made enough of an impact for any fame or money to change me. I hope I can keep it humble and hungry as my star rises.
What would you be doing now, if you never started doing music?
Id still be involved in some form of expressive art... Painting, acting something.
What are you listening to in your ipod these days? -Why?
All my new songs. Two reasons. Number 1 I'm choosing which ones to use for my new album Mean Doe Green. Number 2 I have BARZ overload in my brain and if I dont listen to em over and over ill forget the words.
What has been your favorite job you've done so far?
The one I have now !
Does any negativity from the media ever affect you in anyway?
People say what they will I cant afford to worry bout things I cant control. I know me too well to stress.
Any advice for those looking to pursue their dreams?
Simple. Do It. Nothin will fall out the sky and land in your lap be pro active and stay visible.
What do you want to be remembered by?
Remembered by or for ? I want to be remembered for being a west coast legend in music. And the Father of the year every year. I want be rememberer for being a man of my word. The list goes on !
