WBM Presents: Blue Rocks

Not often do you find a triple threat behind the music. Blue not only produces, but he also writes and is an engineer in the studio. For all of you who do not know who he is, you can catch him on Bravo's hit reality show "Real Housewives of Atlanta". So take a moment and get to know Blue.

[As Told To Why Blue Matters]

WBM: So lets start off Introduce yourself to the people who may not who you are? and explain exactly what do you do?

Blue: My name is Blue Rocks. I’m a producer from Brooklyn, now residing in Atlanta. I've produced records for everybody from Raekwon The Chef to Jagged Edge. I write songs, and I engineer as well.

WBM: What were you doing before you got into music?

Blue: I’ve been doing music since I was 5 years old. I don't really know much else!!

WBM: What made you want to do music?

Blue: I heard a record from Bob Marley when I was small and I wanted to do that. Then as I got older I wanted to be Berry Gordy and Quincy Jones.

WBM: What inspires and motivates you?

Blue: My fans and my audience reaction to my music is my motivation. They keep it real without even telling me. My goal is to be one of the best in history!!

WBM: What has been your favorite accomplishment in your career so far?

Blue: Producing Raekwon The Chef's last two albums as well as being the engineer behind the projects. Which really gave me some shine in the hip hop community.

WBM: Is there something you want to do, that you haven't yet?

Blue: A full movie score for a major motion film is my next goal.

WBM: What's the difference between the real you, and the man behind the scenes?

Blue: People say that when I’m in the studio I’m more aggressive. When I’m not in the studio, I’m super humble... almost too quiet.

WBM: Any regrets? Lessons learned?

Blue: My regret was that i didn’t learn the business, publishing, royalties, etc.

WBM: What do you do for fun when your not doing music?

Blue: I love animation so I’ve been working my hand at it a bit. I’m actually getting real good at it too! I go to movies, plays, shows, etc. And food. i love exotic food!!

WBM: What is something that a lot of people don't know about you?

Blue: I’m not fully American. I’m half Guyanese. I’m a nerd on the low and also
I got f**ked over and lost a lot of money.

WBM: What's the thought process behind your works?

Blue: Hit records only! Anything else is uncivilized.

WBM: Do you write from personal experience?

Blue: I Keep the streets i was raised in, in my music cause they really relate to the struggle of life I display on records. Sometimes I just go for it and see what comes out. I have no boundaries when it comes to music.

WBM: What are you listening to in your ipod these days?

Blue: Everything!!! All genres of music, new and old, black or white.

WBM: What do you like most about being in the business?

Blue: I love what I do and I’ve met some great people along the way that have helped my career in the industry.

WBM: So what project are you working on now? What are your goals for 2011?

Blue: Raekwon’s Shaolin vs Wutang. More songs with Kandi and Tommy Nova are my main focus, but I’m in the works to do some Tyler Perry stuff too.

WBM: How has life changed since filming Real Housewives of Atlanta? Do people recognize you more?

Blue: At first it was cool. A person here and there, but lately its been everywhere i go. So now I gotta watch what i do, because the world is watching

WBM: Does any negativity from the media ever affect you in anyway?

Blue: Naw the media is all hype so I don’t pay it much attention. Plus whatever they say dies off by the next big story.

WBM: Any advice for those looking to pursue their dreams?

Blue: Work hard, stay diligent, and don't quit!! It doesn’t happen overnight.

WBM: What do you want to be remembered by?

Blue: Being a great producer/engineer/songwriter, and a humble and helpful person in life to others.

WBM: Anything else you would like the world to know about you?

Blue: Look out for my 2nd album called “GET RIGHT OR GET LEFT.” It’ll be released this spring!!

WBM: Thanks for adding more significance to Why Blue Matters
